Boyd Launches My Mattress Now program

ST. LOUIS — Retailers who carry at least one Boyd Specialty Sleep mattress on their floors can have orders shipped directly to consumers as part of Boyd’s new My Mattress Now program. Boyd officials believe this is a first-of-its kind service for mattress producers.
Under the just-announced program, Boyd will UPS single orders direct to retail shoppers—at their option—at a cost to retailers of $20 per order. It is up to the retailers to decide how much of that charge, if any, will be passed along to the consumer.
Most orders will be shipped same-day from the company’s 60,000-square-foot warehouse in St. Louis, or from the company’s 320,000-square-foot warehouse in Los Angeles. Products destined for the East or West Coasts typically reach consumers in three days, Boyd officials noted.
“For years, we’ve been shipping orders for our products within 24 hours,” said Denny Boyd, president of Boyd Specialty Sleep. “Now we’re simply offering to ship orders directly to consumers on behalf of retailers who see the value in not having to buy products, inventory them or ship them to consumers.”
He said that retailers who utilize the My Mattress Nowprogram don’t have to worry about issues like inventory shrinkage or consumer calls about deliveries or product problems.
“We maintain a large staff of well-trained, knowledgeable and dedicated people at the other end of our toll-free number,” Boyd explained. “Many of these employees have been with us for 15 to 20 years. They know our products, are very skilled at answering questions and diagnosing issues, and can easily make the customer happy right away. Ultimately, retailers could use their delivery savings to incentivize floor salespeople to promote the program to shoppers.”
Boyd said what distinguishes the My Mattress Nowservice from any other shipping programs in the industry is that the beds are not made to order but are stocked and readily available for same-day shipping.
“We think retailers will recognize the many advantages of this offering — the tremendous cost savings, delivery efficiencies and operational convenience,” he said.
