Boyd Buys Blue Magic

Boyd Specialty Sleep has acquired the assets of waterbed accessories company Blue Magic, based in Stockton, Calif. Denny Boyd, president of Boyd Specialty Sleep, said Blue Magic was in Chapter 11.

“It’s a great strategic fit for our company,” he said. “It satisfies a critical industry need. You can’t sell waterbeds without these products.”

Blue Magic offers water conditioners, vinyl cleaners, fill-and-drain kits and patch kits. The company has a 30-year history in the waterbed industry. Boyd said waterbeds account for about 20% of his company’s sales.

Marketing efforts for Blue Magic’s Tectron brand will be stepped up, he said. Those products provide protection and cleaning for fabrics, mattresses, wood and leather.
